Custom Music Controllers (Arduino)

Service Description

Individuals interested in building custom devices to control music. Requirements: No previous experience required. Laptop encouraged. If a student is unable to bring a laptop, that's just fine! The student may use my equipment. If a student is able to bring a laptop, please download Max from www.cycling74.com. Cycling 74 offers a 30-day free trial. After that, Max is available for purchase or subscription at www.cycling74.com. Also, download the Arduino IDE from www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software (In-browser editor also an option, just be sure to create an account on www.arduino.cc). The student can buy materials from me (at cost), or from other sources. These materials include an Arduino Uno circuit board (varies on Amazon.com from $20-$30), and various wires or sensors (anywhere between $0.09 [light sensor] and $40 [accelerometer]). Students can also use cell phones, game controllers, and many other input/output devices to create custom music controllers. There is a wide variety of commercial devices which are compatible with the framework I teach.
